FOODIE FRIDAY REVIEW

Friday Foodie Review: WISE & WRIGHT

Wow. This was my first thought when I looked at this cozy cafe/ restaurant’s menu. I looked through each item about 10 times until I finally decided. That’s how yummy the menu looked to me. I am all about places that have super-food salads, nourishing “bowls” & juices. This place had all of those plus so much more.

Wise & Wright is tucked away downtown in Calgary along 8th ave SW and 3rd st SW. I chatted with two of the three owners and they gave me the lo-down on their history. This place opened in July (a brand new place!) and their focus is to provide healthy, nourishing food options as well as drink options to customers. They’re all about healthy, fresh food here and it shows. They were both incredibly nice and outgoing and answered all of my (many) questions.

After chatting with one of the nice girls at the front, I settled on the Omega-3 Super Food Bowl with a large juice from Juice Because. The bowl I ordered had tandoori salmon, cajun prawns, curried lentils, chickpeas, cilantro, green beans and flax-seeds. It was a soup-style bowl and it was extremely warming and delicious.  The juice I decided on was the JUDY that has coconut, charcoal, raw honey, lavender & lemon. I usually go for any juice with lemon and charcoal but this one was especially delicious with the lavender in it. One of the owners (such a nice man) let me try one of their new menu item treats, Key Lime Avocado cashew cheesecake-style cookie. I can’t even begin to explain how incredible this tasted. It was creamy, sweet, tart, decadent and melted in my mouth. If you visit, make this the first thing you try. Seriously.

Some other dishes I was recommended to try next time were: The Heartbeet Salad, The Wright Vegan Bowl, Tandoori Chicken Flatbread and their Wise Benedicts.

This was the perfect place to eat delicious food, enjoy their laid-back music & vibe, and sip on my juice while typing up this review. I will become a fast regular here and can’t wait to try more of their food!

Note: The main picture of the outside of the cafe is not my picture. I found it online (it was too dark to take a good pic when I got there!) and I’ve tried to find the original owner of it to give some credit. However, I can’t seem to find who it belongs too.
