FOODIE FRIDAY REVIEW

Friday Foodie Review: WILD & RAW

Happy Friday! I hope you’re enjoying this Calgary sunshine as much as I am! I’ve been living in Calgary just shy of 7 months now and haven’t explored as much as I want to. I love trying eating at new places and discovering new foods! So, I’ve decided to start a weekly foodie review. What does that mean exactly? Well, I’ll be trying a new restaurant/ cafe/ food truck each week and reviewing it honestly. I’ll be trying all types of food (including vegan, vegetarian & raw)and am open to trying any suggestions! I’ll give you some delicious recommendations and some fun facts about the place. Lots of pictures will be included as well!
You can look forward to reading these reviews on FRIDAY’s (yay!)

First place I decided to try out was Wild & Raw, a super-food & juice bar tucked away in Kensington, Calgary (right off of Memorial Drive).
When I first walked around Kensington with my sister and nephew, I instantly fell in love. There are adorable little cafes, a wine market, funky clothing stores and unique places to eat. Definitely check the area out when you can!

“At Wild & Raw, we aim to reconnect everyone to the nature of the human mind, body and spirit with our superfood based creations that fuel, heal and nourish today’s modern warrior. Our foundation: seeking and providing sustainably sourced ingredients, from root to leaf, that purify the body and please the palate. Our intention: crafting visually stunning drinks that taste great and leave you feeling euphoric”

Wild & Raw is a family owned, Calgary based company. It’s a super-food and juice bar but also has a cafe vibe. They offer a LOT of organic smoothies, organic fresh-pressed juices, euphoric “health shots”, hot elixirs, raw desserts, extra health “add-ons”, and cold drink options (coconut water, kombucha, ect). Their prices are $-$$ and it reflects their top quality organic ingredients. They often try to cut back on buying stuff that they can make on location, example being almond milk. I love that so much!

Something else that I really love about this place is that they design their juices to be filled with healing super-foods based off of Ayurvedic & Chinese Medicine. A lot of their drinks have a chaga base to them (which, obviously I was super excited to learn about since I looove chaga and all of its benefits!) and they steer clear of processed sugars.

Today, I decided on the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate after a fellow customer (the nicest girl, Shannon) recommended it! Oh. My. God. This was sooooo decadent and delicious. Seriously. After I took the first sip, I said “lord help me” out loud. I got a few weird looks from the people behind me but I didn’t even care. THAT’S how good it was! Now, i’m verrryyy particular about anything salted caramel. Very few places get that sweet/salty combo just right but this place nailed it. This drink has a chaga base along with cacao, mesquite, vanilla, dates, coconut mylk & sea salt. You need to try this next time you’re in the area on a chilly day, so yummy!

My other recommendations for Wild & Raw: Sergent Peppermint, Golden Guru, The Dosha Balancer (blended shake) and The Mermaid (blended shake). You can also buy some packs of super-foods they sell there as well.

Do you have any recommendations for Wild & Raw? I’d love to hear so I can try them out next time!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy this place as much as I did.
